Exit intent

An exit-intent popup you design by chatting

Describe the offer you want to show someone who is about to leave. PopupGenius reads your site’s colors and fonts and builds the popup around them, then you change anything by typing. One script tag, and it watches every page you put it on.

Free plan: one popup, 500 views and 20 AI credits a month. No card.

How to add an exit-intent popup to any website, no code · plays from YouTube when you press play

Three steps, and it is watching

  1. 1

    Create a free account

An email and a password. The free plan is already on it, no card.

  2. 2

    Paste one script tag

Before the closing body tag, on each page the popup should watch. WordPress, Webflow, WooCommerce, or a site you built yourself.

  3. 3

    Turn on "Exit intent"

One switch in the Triggers tab. The popup opens when the pointer leaves through the top of the window.

What the leaving visitor sees

The popup is yours to shape. Start from a template or a sentence you type, then keep typing until it is right — the preview changes as you go.

  • A discount code, shown after the visitor gives an email address
  • A link to any page you choose — a guide, a product, a booking form
  • A countdown that makes the offer finite
  • A second step for anyone who says "no thanks" the first time

Two things to set

On phones, add a timer or a scroll.
Exit intent reads the mouse: it fires the moment the pointer leaves through the top of the window. Phones have no pointer, so the same popup also takes a timer and a scroll trigger — switch both on and one popup covers every visitor.
Your discount code, your rules.
Paste in a code you already run and the popup shows it with a copy button. Nothing is generated behind your back, and your shop’s discount settings stay exactly as you left them.

The same editor does the rest

You came here for one popup. The first three come with it on the free plan; the rest need a paid one.

Templates
Start from a design built for the job, or from a sentence you type.
Triggers
Exit intent, a timer, scroll, or the moment something is added to the cart.
Media library
Your own images, uploaded once and reused.
A/B tests paid plan
Run two versions of the same popup and keep the one that wins.
Multi-step flows paid plan
A second screen for anyone who says no the first time.
Translations paid plan
One popup, several languages, matched to the visitor.

What you can check before you sign up

One script tag, and that is the install
Before the closing body tag. No plugin, no theme file edited, nothing to undo but deleting the line.
The free plan does not expire
It is not a trial. One popup, 500 views and 20 AI credits a month, for as long as you want, no card.
Your leads leave with you
Download the whole list as a CSV file whenever you like, or forward each new signup to the tool you already use.
Nothing is left behind
Remove the script tag and the popup is gone the same second. On a Shopify store, uninstalling leaves no theme code.

Questions about exit intent

Does an exit-intent popup work on phones?
No, and nothing can make it: exit intent watches the mouse pointer leave through the top of the window, and a phone has no pointer. Switch on a timer or a scroll trigger as well and the same popup covers phone visitors too.
Will it show again every time someone leaves?
Only if you let it. "Show once per visit" is a setting on the popup, and exit intent fires at most once per page view in any case.
Can I show it only on some pages?
Yes. Under Visibility you choose all pages, or only the addresses matching a rule you write, so a checkout page can be left alone.
Do I need a developer to install it?
One script tag before the closing body tag, once, on the pages the popup should watch. Everything after that is the editor: you describe the popup and change it by typing.
Where does the discount code come from?
From you. You create the code where your shop handles discounts and paste it in; the popup shows it with a copy button. PopupGenius does not generate codes and never touches your discount settings.
What happens if I stop using it?
Delete the script tag and the popup is gone from the site the same second. Nothing is left in your pages, and your captured leads stay downloadable until you delete the account.

Running a store instead of a site?

The same editor and the same exit-intent trigger ship as a Shopify app, where the popup can also add a product to the cart at the price it showed. Everything on this page works the same on both.

Your first exit popup is a few minutes away

Create the account, paste the script, describe the offer. The free plan is enough to see it working on your own site.
